FARMINGTON — West Rowan rallied from a 7-3 deficit to beat Davie 11-8 in a non-conference game.

It was an important game for the Falcons (10-3), who needed to bounce back from Friday’s 10-run rule loss at East Rowan.

Carter Durant (2-0), West’s fourth pitcher, earned the win with two scoreless innings. Luke Ponczka’s strong middle relief outing gave the Falcons a chance to come back.

West tied the game at 8-all with a four-run sixth and scored three in the seventh.

Cole Blevins knocked in three for West. Ponczka had two RBIs.

Durant, Eli Graham, and Maddox Moore scored two runs.

Moore had a triple. Gaige Scruggs, Durant, Blevins and Ponczka had doubles.

Davie (4-7) got two hits and an RBI from Coy James, one of the state’s top hitters.

KANNAPOLIS — South Rowan pounded Northwest Cabarrus 10-2 in the third-place game in the tournament at Atrium Health Ballpark.

Northwest (2-10) scored two early, but the Raiders took charge with a six-run third inning.

Rhyne Keller (2-0) pitched into the fifth inning for the Raiders (8-3) and struck out nine, while walking three. Corbin Goodman had a strong relief outing and fanned four.

Brandon Winkler had three hits, including a triple, and drove in three runs. He represented the Raiders on the all-tournament team.

Matthew Overcash drove in two. Drew Pegram scored three runs. Davis Kemp scored twice. Kemp and Lucas Cox had doubles.

KANNAPOLIS — Salisbury lost 23-13 to Concord in a wild seventh-place game in the tournament being staged at Atrium Health Ballpark.

It was 9-all after four innings, but the Spiders (3-8) pulled away after scoring seven runs in the fifth.

Neil Hammill drove in five runs and pitched five innings for the Spiders.

Evan Koontz, Hank Webb and Landon Tucker had three hits for the Hornets (0-8).

Braylon Taylor had two doubles.

Salisbury’s Cole Price was named to the all-tournament team.

KANNAPOLIS — A.L. Brown used four pitchers, but Robinson outscored the Wonders 12-9 in a fifth-place tournament game at Atrium Health Ballpark.

CJ Gray represented the Wonders (2-7) on the all-tournament team.
