DURHAM — Former Salisbury High star Kyla Bryant announced on Monday that after much prayer and consideration, she’s entering the transfer portal.
Bryant has been a standout for two seasons at North Carolina Central University. She was All-Freshman and third team All-MEAC her first year and was second team All-MEAC this season.
She led North Carolina Central in scoring (13.1 points per game) and assists and was a strong rebounder for a point guard with 4.5 per game.
She ranked seventh in the conference in scoring and fifth in assists. She was fourth in free-throw percentage at almost 77 percent.
Bryant played a league-high 36.3 minutes per game and scored in double figures 19 times, with a career-best of 32 in a January game with Maryland Eastern Shore.
At Salisbury High, Bryant scored 1,809 points, second best total in school history despite a shortened COVID season her sophomore year. Her mother, Lakai Brice, coaches the Salisbury girls team.
