SALISBURY — The Salisbury Police invited residents from around the area to join in the “Cover a Cruiser” event Wednesday at Dunkin Donuts at 1009 East Innes from 7 a.m. til 1 p.m.

Participants are invited to write a message on a card for officers and stick it on a cruiser that will be on scene.

There will be a donation bucket for the Special Olympics, a program that has been of lifelong importance to both Police Chief Patrick PJ Smith and his entire department. There will be specially designed Challenge Coins, T-shirts and hats available for purchase as well and all funds raised from all of the sales will go to Special Olympics.
