A two-car crash just after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, on Hwy. 801 has resulted in a fatality, according to the N.C. State Highway Patrol.

According to investigators, one driver was traveling east on N.C. 801 and the other driver was heading west. The driver of the eastbound car crossed the center line and hit the westbound car head on. Both cars came to rest in the roadway without leaving the pavement.

The driver of the eastbound car, Marshall Keith Bell, 52, of Salisbury, was transported to Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem and later died as a result of the injuries sustained in the collision.
