Wednesday and Thursday games …
THOMASVILLE — Salisbury defeated East Davidson 1-0 on Wednesday to improve to 10-3 overall and 6-3 in the Central Carolina Conference.
Sophomore Stephany Quintero scored the only goal of the match on an assist from Maddie Crabb midway through the second half.
Keeper Taylor Brown had the best contest of her career, making a clutch save with just under six minutes remaining to send the Hornets into the Easter break victorious.
Danna Nunez Sanchez, Emma Ott and Luna Nunez also played well for the Hornets.
“It was definitely a critical win,” Salisbury head coach Matt Parrish said. “We weren’t quite ourselves Monday night and needed something to build on going into the latter stages of the regular season. Again, the first half wasn’t particularly stellar. But again, the team showed a lot of resolve and moxie in the second half. We were a much more focused team, and it showed.”
Next up for the Hornets is a layoff followed by a non-conference home match Wednesday, April 23, against Mount Pleasant. Game time is 6 p.m.
