High school softball: Falcons, Mustangs win in SPC

Thursday and Friday games …
MOUNT ULLA — West Rowan scored in the bottom of the seventh to beat South Rowan 5-4 in South Piedmont Conference action on Friday.
Reese Poole and EA Nance slugged homers for the Falcons (8-2, 6-1).
Raney Phelps and Ansley Jenkins had doubles.
Arabelle Shulenburger pitched a complete game for the Falcons, while Remi Hagerty was in the circle all the way for the Raiders. Both pitchers walked only one batter.
Carmen Thomas and Eva Shue had doubles for South (7-4, 4-4). Cressley Patterson and Thomas had two hits.
South scored four runs in the fifth for a 4-1 lead, but West got three in the bottom of the fifth to tie, and the won in the seventh.
West finished a sweep of the Raiders, winning both games by one run.

GRANITE QUARRY — East Rowan lost 7-4 to Alexander Central in Thursday’s non-conference game.
Jordan Dry hit a three-run homer to tie the game in the sixth, but the Cougars scored three in the top of the seventh.
Lily Kluttz, Eleni Miller and Madi Tigert had two hits for the Mustangs.

CONCORD — East (10-1, 7-0) bounced back on Friday to win 8-0 against Concord in South Piedmont Conference action.
Camryn Perkins pitched the shutout.
Dry socked homers in her first two at-bats.
Tigert had three hits, while Miller, Perkins and Chloe Shank had two each.

CONCORD – Kaylee Dunning homered, Myla McNeely tripled and Isabella Butler had a double for A.L. Brown in Thursday’s 7-all tie at Cannon School that was called by darkness. Cannon rallied for three in the bottom of the seventh.

KANNAPOLIS — South Iredell had 20 hits and outscored the Wonders 10-5 in Friday’s Metro Conference game. Madyson Baker had a double.
Baker, Kennedy Yow, MaKaela Fredercick and Madison Cook had two hits each for the Wonders (5-3-1).

SALISBURY — Ashley Yang had a double and a triple in Salisbury’s 15-2 loss to Union Grove Christian. The Hornets (5-6) were in the game most of the way, but Union Grove had an eight-run sixth inning.
